Monday 7-1-24

 

This morning I woke up did my study in the morning listened to my music

And then I went to the pool

I did all the chemicals and I found out that overnight a switch in the heater decided to stop working

So the pool is gonna gradually get colder until we can get the pool mechanic out to fix it

Since I don’t know what I’m doing, I’m not going to try to fix some thing that I have no idea what I’m doing so that’s why I’m grateful there’s a poor mechanic

I then exercised in the pool for about 10 minutes

And my sister opened up the door and said hey, if you could 

I need to go over here to get my car and then I need to go over here to get this and then I need to go over here to get this

And I had no clue what she was talking about

But I said, let’s go

I then said I need to shower first to get the pool water off of me and then I will be able to help you out

I immediately jumped in the shower, got changed and then went out the door and drove straight to her house

The first thing I do when I get to her house 

While I’m there is i stick my hand under the fence and that way I let the dogs know that it’s me 

so they can smell my hand and they don’t want to come after me when I enter the yard

And then I walked in my sister’s front door, and she had just gotten done making a fruit smoothie. It looks like blueberry with other things in it.

And so I walked straight over to where it was, and dipped my finger into it

And it was one of the worst tasting smoothies I’ve ever had

And I said ewww  what is in this.

She then she told me 

It had all this organic, fat-free, cholesterol free, made by man to be nutritious fake food in it….

(basically shredded up paper with flavoring in it ) is what it tasted like to me

She kept describing what was in it, and why it was so healthy for you

I’m sorry to say it, but I started to ignore her 

because I didn’t see any benefit in eating that 

after having it supposedly being that healthy

But taste was soooooooo gross

She then went around the room, trying to get everybody else to try it because she knew that it was bad

 to play tricks on them

She went up to my great nephew and asked him to try it

And it was hilarious because he’s like nope

I want none of it because he saw me eat it

And she kept trying to give it to him, and he kept saying no and backing off 

like I don’t want to try it

So next she gave up on him and went to my other great nephew, and he’s a lot braver. He’s also a lot older.

So she gave it to him, and he got this really yucky taste on his face

I then  said, how about I make a smoothie

Because that thing was awful

I figured as much as I wanted the taste out of my mouth, so did my little nephew

And I was trying to figure out the measurements from her little smoothie drink to a full size one, because that’s how I have mine memorized is large sized

 not an individual cup

And it was just getting too complicated 

so I said do you have a large smoothie container? I’ll just make one for everybody.

So I began making a new smoothie 

And the older nephew, who had tasted it.

I was letting him do the blender controls

Help me blend all the fruit together and ice and everything else

And then it was way too liquidy and I said hey, we need to go get some ice

And I pointed over to the fridge and I said, how do we get ice out of there?

And he said you push this button and it comes out

So we both walked over to it really close and I noticed that it was on water still

And I pushed the button and water came out and splashed and got us both wet

And then, his mom in the background said, I don’t think he knows how to do it

I then asked him again

 I said OK so that didn’t work I said, how does the ice come out? To him

And then he pointed up at the ice dispenser, and he described to me in perfect detail how the ice cubes come out of that little round circle, and not where the water comes out

I then said yes, but how 

he said you push that button and so I pushed the button again and I got wet again

He backed up

After this time 

I then pointed out to him and said hey,

 there’s a little water symbol up here

And then he’s like oh yeah, you have to push this button that has ice cubes on it

And he tried to push it, but he wasn’t strong enough so I said, let me help you, and we both pushed it together

And then I pushed the button and ice cubes came down on us, and that made him really excited because he figured it out

And then I got down on one knee and I had the other one up in the air and I said here come stand up on my knee

And I need your help to fill this container full of ice so we can use it in our drink

So he stood up on my knee and I held the plastic container and he pushed the button waiting for the ice cubes to go inside

I told him we need it full

He then let three ice cubes go into it and he said here you go

I said nope we need it more full

He then pushed the button for longer and about five more ice cubes fell in and then he said here you go

I said nope 

And then I said, OK we need it all the way to the top so it’s sticking over……. But just barely

And he shook his head up and down, and then he pushed the button until it was just barely over the top

And then he got down off my knee and said here you go

And I said that was perfect and I gave him a high five

I then put him up on my shoulders

 And we put the ice into the smoothie, but it just stayed at the top

So I said what we need to do is we need to push the ice down

And he said  I want to do it

I said, if you say please, I will let you, and he said please very nicely

So I taught him how to do it and I held the bottom of the spoon because I had my white shirt on and I didn’t want smoothie to get all over my shirt

He was very cautious and very careful about doing it. 

He did a really good job. I don’t even think I had to hold the spoon to help him out.

We then pushed the ice down

and I said OK and I took the spoon from him and I set it in the sink and then I helped him get down off of my shoulders

And then I let him turn on the blender again, and it ground up all the ice, and made the perfect smoothie texture

I then asked the one that was up on my shoulders if he wanted to try it

He was the one that tried the other one and he said 

nope I don’t want to try it

Even after he got done, helping me make it

He still had that bad taste in his mouth and he didn’t want to try it

So I went over to my younger nephew

The one that in the beginning, did not want to try the nasty smoothie …at all after watching me, eat it

And I said to him

I promise this one is much better. 

Do you want to try this one?

And he said uh-huh

I gave him the tiniest spoon with a little bit on it

And so I walked over to him, and I gave it to him 

And then I walked away and then I asked him do you want more?

And he said uh-huh

And so I filled half a cup full

And then I put a little spoon in it and let him go crazy on it

And then I asked the other little one that was on my shoulders if he wanted any

And he still said no

I then proceeded to give everyone in the room, some of the smoothie, while he was just watching

And everybody got handed one and everybody was eating a smoothie, except for him, and he saw his blue cup getting full of the smoothie that my sister filled up for later to save

And that’s when he decided that he wanted some

 also because he saw his blue cup being filled with a drink 

that’s what he wanted

After that, we all enjoyed the smoothies….. good ones this time…….

I then filled up a to go cup  and took it to where I took my sister to get her vehicle

I drank about 4 sips out of the straw 

as I was driving 

Which was at her sons firework stand

My sister got out of the car and went and said hello to her son

And then got in her car and left

I then went and said hello to him also

( This is my nephew that baptized me)

And I just said hello and I said do you need a bathroom break and he said no

Then I proceeded to leave…….

got into my van

And then the thought came

I have nowhere to go…maybe I’ll just stay here and talk to him for a while

I then grabbed the smoothie that I had just made

And took it over to him and handed it to him and said I just made the smoothie. It is really hot out here under this tent canopy would you like it?

He asked me what it was

Because our family is full of jokesters

And I told them it was a smoothie recipe that I made that I guaranteed he was going to like

Then he said OK, and he drank it within five minutes and it was a really big cup

I don’t know how he did it and not get a brain freeze cause I would have

I ended up staying there for four hours

And we had some really good and deep discussion going back-and-forth

Halfway through

I had to go to the bathroom and the closest place was the Walmart which I had to drive to

And while I was in there, I had my sticky notes with me. I reached in my pocket and that was the first thing I felt.

I entered Walmart and went into the restroom 

 and then as I was coming out, I went through the checkout stand area

And right before I got into the shopping area

I looked to my right, and there were two missionaries

And they were there with one other gentleman who I think was the ride so they could get their groceries today

And I said, can I shake your hands

I want to thank you for being out here serving and I say this because I got baptized on May 23

They asked me how I got baptized and I told them it was through senior missionaries

And they said that is so cool

And then I told them that if they would

 I would like for them to write down a scripture 

whatever they feel inspired to do 

don’t tell me it just write it down on the sticky pad

The first missionary wrote down something 

And then the second missionary started to write some thing

And then looked up at me and said hold on

I said, don’t worry about it take your time and write 

whatever you’re inspired to write

He then wrote down his scripture

I did not look at it. I put it right into my pocket.

I then went to the back of the store

 And bought six more different sticky pads

That I am going to carry around with me and whenever I see a missionary or somebody that I meet for the first time, or anybody that I get inspired to ask a scripture from

I want to write down their favorite scripture Or any scripture that they get inspired to write and

Learn about it and understand why it is their favorite scripture or why inspired 

And then learn how it can apply to me

After I checked out and went back over to my nephew

I then told him the experience in Walmart and said let’s look at what scriptures they wrote down

The first missionary wrote down 1st Nephi 3:7

the 2nd missionary wrote down 3rd Nephi 7:20-22 !

with an exclamation point

I almost have the first one memorized

But the second scripture that the missionary gave me

I have never read it before … with as much understanding as I did today

with the questions that I had answered yesterday in church

This just brought way deeper Meaning to everything that happened yesterday and today

As I was reading the book “to draw closer to God”. by Henry B. Eyring

 last night

It mentions that a lot of times we need to humble ourselves 

to see that God’s answers 

not only come from Him and the Holy Ghost, but also

  it could be random strangers

People that we are close to

Or people that we run into every day 

We just have to be open enough 

to listen to what God wants us to hear 

After discussing the scriptures with my nephew, I thought OK I need to go and see what else I need to do for the day

As I decided, I was going to leave I got a text

From the person that invited me for the Fourth of July weekend this coming weekend

He asked if I could, please 

he would like help with his trailer so we can fit the four wheelers on it

And make sure all the lights are running 

He taught me how to run brake lights on a trailer

So I went over there and helped him again

As I was finishing up with him, a rain storm, starting to come in, and my back really started to hurt

Because I have metal in my back 

I feel when storms are coming and soon as the pressure changes it really causes some pain

So I left and drove home

At home i Went outside and began to write everything that has happened so far today

As I was writing about this, I put my hand down on some thing, and it was really dusty

And it caused me to not be able to breathe for a minute, because of all the dust

So I walked into the kitchen and washed my hands and my face, so I could breathe

And then I walked back outside and said I am not going to sit in the same area, so I moved over onto some steps

That gives me an awesome view of the mountain range and the sunset

As I began to type again, I looked up and I saw the neighbors dog getting through the fence and getting out

I quickly sat down my iPad 

And went and chased after the dog

She was too fast

So I knocked on the neighbors door and said hey your dog just got out 

what do you want me to do 

how can I help?

They answered 

we’re just gonna get in the van and go chase her down. Usually she will come back with us.

So I said OK, and I went back into my backyard and began to write again

And all of a sudden I hear the dogs chains around its neck as if it’s coming into my backyard

And the dog runs up to me, looks up at me and then runs off

And then I see my neighbors driving around, trying to get the dog

And then I went and got a frozen dinner out of my freezer

And I took it outside, hoping that the dog would run by me again and then I could stop it with food cause that’s all I could grab at the time

And the dog did come back around my house again

And this time I held the food out to it, and it stopped and I was able to grab it by the collar

And then I was able to wave down the Neighbor, and say I have your dog

As I was walking back, I pointed out to the neighbor how the dog got out and I also said you have a hole that she has been digging. Do you want me to fix those?

And she said sure

So after I handed the dog over to her, 

I immediately fixed the fence with some long nails, so the dog couldn’t get out in that same spot

And then I went and got some dirt out of my garden 

and went and filled in the hole, 

so the dog couldn’t get out of the hole that it was digging

I had a hole now in my garden 

So I decided i was going to plant a bunch of lettuce starts i’ve been cultivating 

So I planted some lettuce in the new hole

 i just made to fill another hole

And then I went back up on the steps and watched the sunset tonight and it was absolutely beautiful 

Again, what an amazing day

I love these experiences and how they’re happening and how I get to talk to amazing people everyday
