Today’s experiment - mosiah2:17

 

 I want to try an experiment on a scripture today…. Mosiah 2:17

As I go throughout the day and I have an experience or an understanding, I’m gonna write it down and hopefully we’ll see where this day goes..

This morning, as I was heading out the door,  I’ve been praying, That I can see or help or do something for other people today rather than what I want to do

I got to the pool this morning, And I felt inspired to take two of my drinks with me, When I showed up, there was one person in the pool and we talked a little bit, but he did his thing, and away he went After he left, I turned on my music . He doesn’t like music so I am respectful to him , Then I wait till he’s gone before I turn on the music

While I was doing my work out, I got a text message from a dear friend saying that I missed out on the activities last night, but then he said there is a meeting today, a gathering of single adults for breakfast, and a few helpful meetings to help your life be better

So I said, what time. He told me where it was, and what time, and instantly I said absolutely, I’ll join.

After I texted him to let him know I was coming, 

another person entered the pool area, and we talked a little bit, and I felt like I should give my drink to this person, and tell them that I brought too many drinks and when I do, I drink too much.

Just by handing this drink over to them, helped open up a conversation, I had one of the longest conversations I’ve ever had with this person, it was great, I learned many things about them.

As I left the building, while I’m driving to my next thing which was to the breakfast meeting. My sister calls me and she says 

I need to talk right now,

 can you, 

so I pulled over and I was talking to her, 

she was having a allergic reaction to something in her car, I recommended her to pull over, but she said it wouldn’t do any good 

because the flowers were in her car and she needed to get there soon as possible,

She was unable to get out of her car and get away from because of the flowers being in her car

So she thought it was safer just to get there, get them out and get them away from her as soon as possible

 so I was able to talk her and help her focus and do what she needed to do to drop off those flowers and get them away from her.

When I showed up at the breakfast meeting,

I went around and shook hands, and there is one gentleman that had a really big muscles, and I crave for my body to be better, that’s one thing I really work on, that’s one of my goals, and so I went up to my  brother, and I started talking to him, and he’s been through some hard times,  I know he has. I thought, I felt it., he told me some things that are very personal him,  I felt like I needed to hear him out and give him a chance to talk without me interrupting

He has a lot of heart. He has a lot of knowledge he’s willing to teach… yet. Others aren’t ready to hear from him yet. I am so grateful I was given the opportunity to talk to him and learn from him, about him.

Next, I asked somebody what was going on because this was the first time, I’ve ever been to something like this, they showed me the meeting board and it had a bunch of different activities and different meetings you can go to 

and they said 

this is what you can do here and I went to one of the meetings with them,

And I learned a lot,  it was a nutritional expert, they really helped my mind understand things that I’ve been struggling with. that I thought I understood. but they understood way better than me, so I’m grateful that I ended up here to learn this.

Next I went to another class it was yoga, and I am in a suit pants, dress shirt, and a tie.

I really enjoyed it. It was nice to relax to stretch and to forget about life., but to improve my life at the same time, and it was fun, because I really did learn some things that are helping me out and how I can improve my life, and I got to talk to the person teaching afterwards, they are very compassionate about what they do, and how they’re willing to serve others, I am so grateful for their example

Next, I went back out to get more of the breakfast I grabbed a yogurt and a muffin, and another dear brother, came up to me, and we began to talk, it is truly amazing the people so far that I’ve been able to talk to, and hear their experiences or life challenges and what they’re doing with them, how much they love others and they’re concerned about friends and family, they want their lives to improve, they want everybody’s life to improve. They’re not just thinking about themselves. That’s what i heard  from everybody. So far everyone I’ve talked to today. They Needed to be heard…

It’s only noon

I look forward to what else today is going to bring

It’s 1 o’clock I just had somebody call me and ask if I could help them at 4 o’clock, not sure about everything going on. But I told them I would help.

So I decided next to drive to where my sister was…after the flower incident

to make sure she was OK.

 But she was not there, so I called her up to make sure she was doing all right., and she is out to Mother’s Day lunch with her family, my family.. what a great example to me of going out with family today especially for this upcoming event of Mother’s Day 

I know that when she has an allergic reaction, she is miserable for the rest of the day, but she is taking time out of her time to spend time her with family. What a great example to me she is, even though she is in pain and suffering. She is taking time out of her day to make others feel better.

She is my Hero.

As i was driving around I remembered delivering ice cream the other day, so I drove to walmart and bought a cooler and creamies ice cream pops, orange, berry, and chocolate. I also bought my protein powder mix.And since I thought I was only going in there for ice cream I did not grab a cart so everything was in my arms.

As i was checking out i ran into a man and said hello, he said hello back with a great smile, I then responded…you you have a great smile as he walked away…….

 He then quickly turned around and said “hey that’s my line—-“ 

He was in front of me at the time and he saw…I believe that he only had one item and I had a armful of stuff 

so he invited me to go ahead of him, I said no really I think you’re more of in a hurry than I am.

 I’m gonna let you go ahead of me because he was ahead of me... 

For a brief moment, we had a standoff,  At the O K corral, 

I have no clue what was going on around us. It was just me and him. We had a really good standoff ……

who is going to let who…go forward first…

Seemed like 1 minute went by

So I finally gave in. And I explained to him why I bought all the ice cream, 

And he seemed to glow when I said this.. And then I was instantly inspired…To say hey, I am being baptized do you wanna come?

And he shook my hand with such force, such love, I knew that he was a disciple of God, The same love that I felt at that BYU devotional….

He then shook out his hand and introduced me to him  name by name, And we continue to talk about experiences and things we’ve been through that were very similar… but so different in so many ways

I checked out and I said I will meet you out front because I want to continue this conversation, So I went out and waited for him to check out and while I was doing that, I took everything out of the bags. I took all the popsicles out of the bag, and I put everything I had into the cooler so it was easier to carry

He came out and I asked where he was parked, And then he pointed over there 

and he said, well where are you parked and I pointed in the total opposite direction, And we started to walk towards my car.

We began talking about his life and my life and how much the same they were. It was really fascinating how similar everything was in different ways.

So we started talking about some of these similarities, And he said I’m sorry, but I forgot your name… And I said I’m sorry too, but I did too…We kind of both said “we’re really good at faces but names just leave us…

Just about at the same time 

so now we’re kind of laughing as we introduce ourselves again to each other name by name…

And it starts to rain, while we were talking I was sitting in my driver seat and he just wanted to stand outside the car… 

It started to rain. I went and opened up my back panel, and we both went under it and continued to talk. He then looked in the backseat of my vehicle and he pulled out something else that I had, that he also had in his possession, And he said, I truly believe that this meeting was meant to be.

I did not tell him that on this day I was doing an experiment. That I was doing the experiment when you’re in the service of your fellow beings you’re in the service of your God…

For some unknown reason, our Heavenly Father set it up for us to meet. I know I was meant to meet my dear brother on this special day…

We had introduced ourselves by name three different times…I can honestly say I remember his name..But I had a huge inspiration to say…I need to introduce myself to you….

And before I did, I prayed to my Heavenly Father, That I could convey the love that I felt for my brother and I had just met him, And I know I would do anything for him if it was righteous…

I reached out my hand…….

And I said these words

Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ the Son of God…. I have been called of Him….. to declare His word… among His people…. that they might have everlasting life….

I wish I could describe silence……..

 I wish I could describe love… not with words, but with feeling……..

I wish I could describe peace…….

If my dear brother is up to sharing his feeling of what happened at that moment…That is for him to describe to you, 

For me, it was very sacred. 

After that moment, we continued to talk in the rain for a good half an hour, I then looked down at my clock and I said I am so sorry but I want to continue this conversation later, 

I have another appointment and I need to go….

We said our goodbyes, I reminded him of the baptism On 23rd of May at 7 PM….

I then called my brother from earlier that I promised I would help out…

 I drove him 90+ miles so he could pick up a motorhome that he was buying, And I would follow him back to make sure he was safe…

Because I left straight from buying the Popsicles I went to his house, they were still in my car and so I asked if I could put them in his freezer and then we left…

We made it all the way up to where we were going,And it was rush-hour traffic on the way back as he was coming back with his new vehicle,  I’m so glad I was there because I was his ability to switch lanes without having to worry about all the crazy drivers out there, I’m thankful that I was his back up guide to make sure that he was safe ahead of me.

As we got back, I asked if I could have the Popsicles that were still in his freezer, I then offered him and his family 4 Popsicles before I left…

And they were really confused by this and I explained that I bought them to hand them out, To people that were working and being good examples to the world , then I explained I love to watch, people smile and enjoy life, and help them know that their special… so they took 4 of them.

I then went home and cleaned up a little bit. And then I was going over everything that had happened that day While I was home and I received a phone call,

It was the brother that I just took up for that long drive. He invited me to dinner so I drove back over to his place.

I pulled up to his house, And as I was walking towards his house in my nice dress shirt and tie. I saw Three of my old, good friends, who unfortunately, I knew in a bad place…A dark place…

And when they noticed me, They couldn’t believe their eyes, They said I look so different, They said I had changed, I was no longer bedridden, They saw me that way for years. I then felt inspired to tell them how I cleaned myself up and And I was getting baptized.

I look forward to the day when I get to see them change…

We then talked for quite a while,And the sun was getting ready to go down, and I jumped in my brother’s car and we went to dinner at Golden corral   buffet 

And on the way there, I would say it was one of the most beautiful sunsets. I have ever Seen…..it filled the whole sky…

And I got to experience it because I was not driving.

 I got to enjoy the majestic beauty of it….

It was truly amazing.

What a perfect ending to an amazing experiment….
